Muse- The 2nd Law review

THE NEW MUSE CD IS OUT! Yeah.... the new Muse cd has been out for a little while and I have had a chance to give it a good listening to.

Ok... so listening to the new Muse album wasn't mind blowing in comparison to all the other awesome albums that those British bastards have put out, but I did really like it. No really, it's a really good album. I've heard people say that Muse's sound is kind of repetitive from album to album, and maybe so... but god dammit I like that sound and if they changed it there is a 50% chance that I might not like it quite as much (maybe.) I saw some video posted online that made it look like the new album was going to be all "dub-steppy" (which would have really ground my gears.) But, luckily there are actual lyrics with weight and meaning, and a melody to most parts of the songs and REAL instruments! Phew, I thought it was going to sound like a gameboy being run through a washing machine like all the other replaceable part style dub step music out there.
While there is obviously a dubby influence on many of the songs, (with Unsustainable being more or less a more articulate version of a dub step song entirely) the album maintains it's grandiose scale that we have all become accustom to over the years.
I listened to the album on repeat, and didn't get bored on the second go around so I would say it's successful. It's no "Black Holes and Revelations," but it is worth a listen.

Overall I give this album three and a half Buscemis out of four.
